How Huntable works

Three steps, whichever side of the fence you're on.

1

Join & verify

Create your hunter profile, fill in your biography, and upload your firearms licence or photo ID. A quick call from our team confirms who you are — and once you’re verified, farmers can see you’re the real deal and you’re free to book.

2

Browse & book

Browse listings across the country, each showing the farm’s rules, pricing and available dates up front — no surprises. Request the dates you want, and the farmer reviews and approves your booking before a cent is charged.

3

Hunt & review

Turn up, enjoy the hunt, and fill the freezer knowing exactly where you can go. Afterwards, leave the farmer a review and pick up one of your own — it’s how trust keeps building on both sides of the gate.

Why Huntable

Hunting access in New Zealand runs on trust. Huntable makes that trust visible — for the people carrying the rifle and the people who own the gate.

General FAQ’s

For hunters
Four steps: complete your profile, fill in your hunter biography, upload your firearms licence (or photo ID for bowhunters and guests), then take a quick phone call from our team. Most hunters finish their side in about ten minutes.
Farmers list because animals are putting pressure on their land. Each listing describes the species present and recent activity, so you can judge before you book.
Membership covers access to the platform and verification. Each hunt is priced by the farmer and shown up front on the listing — no hidden fees.
It varies by listing. Some properties are overrun with pests and welcome you to take whatever you can get; others set limits on certain animals, or attach a cost to them. Any limits or charges are shown at the top of the Farm Rules section on the listing page, so you’ll always know before you book. If additional charges apply, they’re confirmed and charged to the lead hunter’s card after the hunt is completed.
Anyone 16 or older needs a membership and is charged the per-day rate. Anyone under 16 is free of charge, but still counts toward your party’s maximum size.
Yes — everyone invited on a hunt who’s 16 or older needs to be registered with Huntable. When you invite them, they’ll be prompted to log in or register; it only takes about ten minutes, and once verified they can accept your invite. During sign-up they choose the membership that suits them:
• Casual (pay as you go) — charged the $100 membership fee each trip they hunt (to them, not you), every time.
• Annual — a yearly membership, if they expect to hunt more regularly.
Most hunters starting out go with Casual, since they only pay when they actually head out.
We take the security of your licence details seriously — it’s exactly the kind of information we’re built to protect.
• Your firearms licence information is never shared with anyone; it’s used solely to verify you as a hunter.
• Data is stored on secure AWS servers, held entirely within New Zealand and Australia.
• It’s encrypted and not publicly accessible.
• It’s only ever visible through your own logged-in account.
• Internal access is tightly restricted to a small number of authorised people, protected by multi-factor authentication.
For farmers
Yes. Listing your property is free with no setup or subscription fees. Huntable charges a 17% service fee from confirmed bookings to cover platform operations and support.
Exact locations and contact details stay private until a booking is confirmed. Until then, hunters see the region and the listing details — not the farm gate.
Complete control. Every booking request needs the farmer’s approval, and nothing is charged until they accept.
The farmer. Access points, safe zones, stock considerations, what can be hunted and how — all shown on the listing before you book.
